Hannah Hidalgo Named The Dawn Staley Award 2024 Winner
The Phoenix Club of Philadelphia has selected Hannah Hidalgo as the 2024 Dawn Staley Award honoree. The award is given annually to a player who exemplifies the skills that Dawn possessed throughout her career; ballhandling, scoring, her ability to distribute the basketball and her will to win.
Hannah concluded her season averaging 22.6 points, 6.2 rebounds 5.5 assists and 4.6 steals. She led her team in winning the ACC tournament championship and a sweet sixteenth finish in the NCAA tournament. Hannah made first team AP All-American and she is the only player in the nation averaging 20 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals per game.
"The Dawn Staley Award goes to the player who demonstrates exceptional skills, leadership, and performance at the guard position. Hannah Hidalgo’s court vision, passing ability, ball-handling and ability to create scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates combined with her relentless defense is unmatched. She is the embodiment of a two-way force on the basketball court and the essence of what the award represents. In a season where there are several deserving candidates Hannah has separated herself from the group." Dawn Staley
is given to the most outstanding collegiate guard in the country; a player who exemplifies the skills that Dawn possessed during her career (ball handling, scoring, her ability to distribute the basketball and her will to win).
